Sensirion is a leading Swiss semiconductor manufacturer serving global clients in the USA, South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Germany, the Netherlands, and Hungary. The company's main fields of interest are healthcare, automotive manufacturing, electric mobility, and others. Among its clientele, there is a high demand for a sophisticated variety device.
The client approached Merixstudio to accelerate its digital presence through a highly SEO-optimized family of websites dedicated to different audience groups, including buyers, developers, engineers, etc. Aside from the marketing goals, Sensirion sites are aimed at onboarding and educating. Hence, these services are content-heavy.
Initially, services were built by a local Swiss marketing agency; Sensirion passed further development to Merixstudio, requesting deeper engineering capacity and acumen. Currently (q3 2024) several services are undergoing in-depth refactoring.

Merixstudio team conducted an in-depth code review of the existing service, outlining several potential optimization fields. We have carefully drafted a report pitting out necessary tasks. The report recommended a list of enhancements, although they need to be implemented carefully, as aside from optimization, the existing services must operate as usual.
During the short alignment process, we agreed to delegate a small but senior and self-managed team consisting of a backend/python engineer, a frontend/Vue engineer, a part-time project manager & QA specialist, initially responsible for manual but later for automated tests. The client may expect ad-hoc support from our Google Cloud Devops, as well as other specialists from our vast pool of IT experts.
The consistent team structure and seniority allowed high predictability on monthly costs, as well as the team’s knowledge and understanding of the service. The cooperation is ongoing since the summer 2023; we rely on close to Kanban methodology, with the ability to serve ad-hoc, market-related requests at very short notice.
A crucial aspect of this cooperation was handling clear and direct feedback from Sensiron’s marketing department. With precisely defined goals, prioritization has become a much easier task. Merixstudio team managed to reduce the latency of client’s services from 2,5 to 0,5 seconds (80%), mainly through optimization of the code and database queries. We also increased the overall website performance by 46%, which is crucial, especially in Asian markets, where Sensirion services are available in Chinese, Japanese & Korean langauges. The team has also undertaken to perform much more in-depth enrichments in the future, including a potential refactor to React.
