You May learn a thing or two - summary of the month

Don’t have time to read my summary? Join us!

Let’s start with the most important thing - you don’t have to find out what we were up to from my summaries, you can always join us and get a first-hand experience of everything I’m talking about! At the moment we have plenty of job openings available, but before I list them, let’s talk about the process itself!

To ensure the safety of everyone involved, at the moment we meet online on Google Hangouts. There’s also no need for a long recruitment process, yours and our time is equally important and we don’t want to conduct countless interviews. After you apply, we’ll have a chat where we’ll cover both HR and technical topics. Then, all that’s left is a short English check. Quick and easy!

Now that you know HOW we recruit, let’s talk about who we’re looking for! As you’ll see in the list below, we’ve put an emphasis on Senior and Regular Developers, especially from Python and Mobile teams. But we’re also looking for Product Designers, Account Managers, and QA Specialists - we’ve grown a lot in the last couple of years and are nowhere near stopping. Check out our job offers, apply and #MeetMerix!

You can #MeetMerix by joining our team, but you can also get to know us (but obviously not as thoroughly) by following us on Facebook and Instagram. Every Monday we introduce another person and tell you about their position at Merixstudio, their hobbies, and how they influence our day-to-day life. In May we introduced you to Michał, the most optimistic Business Developer and foodie, Ola, the most creative Content Specialist and Shakespeare fanatic, Dawid, our own Ridiculously Photogenic Guy and Python Developer, and Pablo, also a Python Developer, as well as a talented musician. Quite a diverse crowd, right? Well, that how we like it - learning new things from each other and helping one another broaden our horizons!

Business Developers have no secrets

Speaking of broadening horizons, have you seen our new #CodeIT series? This month we published the first article, #CodeSales, in which our HR Manager Ania gave you behind the scenes sneak peek Business Development. In the blog post, she:

  • describes such things as the difference between Outbound and Inbound teams
  • talked about what characterises a great Business Developer
  • showed why working with our Business Developers will allow you to sharpen your sales skills

Intrigued? Well, check out her article and see for yourself!

Let me assure the quality of your project

Business Development secrets were not the only secrets we shared in May. Olga, our QA Specialist, spoke about her duties at ŁuczniczQA, an online event for the QA community. During her presentation, she covered such topics as specification-based testing techniques, equivalence partitioning, decision tables, test cases, and much more. Olga obviously smashed it - 280 people that watched her seemed to be quite happy with her as their teacher!

Piatki po Deployu

What, another point about us sharing our knowledge? Well, yes, knowing us you shouldn’t be surprised! After all, Piątki po Deployu, our podcast for IT enthusiasts, are getting more and more popular - we’ve published nine episodes and are nowhere near stopping. In May, Miłosz and Mateusz divided their labor. At the beginning of the month, Miłosz invited Mikołaj, our JavaScript Developer, to talk about frontend app optimization, how such companies as Netflix and Uber used this to make their apps faster and more user friendly, and how you can take care of optimization in your projects.

Then Mateusz took over the reins and invited Kasia, our HR Team Leader, to talk about recruitment. During their first conversation, they talked about how long is too long to chat with candidates, how many meetings you need to get to know your potential employer (spoiler alert - not many!), and what mistakes are made by both candidates and recruiters. Then, during their second chat, they focused on the interview - how to ensure the quality of the technical part of the conversation, whether you should feel sparks right from the beginning, and much more. Sounds interesting? Check out Piątki po Deployu on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube
