Meet Merix: Krzysztof - Backend Developer

Krzysztof, due to the close cooperation with Sales and PR teams, was named a hero by his colleagues. As soon as problems arise, fearless Krzysiek goes to the rescue. Even a song was created to praise his name and it’s occasionally hummed by our colleagues from other teams. Krzysiek likes to whine, and his most frequent response to the proposed changes is to say "no, I won’t do it" and go to his desk (but after that he still perfectly does his job:)). Besides, he is the owner of probably the largest collection of geeky t-shirts, what you can see on our Instagram under the #GeekShirtFriday hashtag.

  • Tell us something about yourself.
I’m passionate about computers. I binge watch a lot of tv-shows and am a big fan of Krzysztof Krawczyk.
  • What are your main responsibilities at Merxistudio?
On a dailybasis, I create projects based on Django, the web framework written in Python.
  • How do you work? What is important to you while working?
I do what people tell me to do - I work on current projects. I don’t have a problem with working on few things at once, what usually amaze Miłosz. The most important for me is to fulfill tasks that I was assigned to.
  • Tell us something about your beginnings in the company.
I'm working in Merixstudio since June. In the beginning, I was involved in smaller (usually internal) projects, after that I gradually began working on more and more complicated tasks. I had had some experience of working with Django before I came here and my colleagues didn’t have a problem with sharing their knowledge with me, so I didn’t have problems with acclimatization.
  • What have you learned while working at Merixstudio?
Working with people. Or at least tolerating them. (:
  • What do you like most about working at Merixstudio?
    Definitely the atmosphere.
  • What was the biggest challenge you faced while working at the Merixstudio?
    This interview.
  • Which project do you like the most from the ones you worked on in Merixstudio?
I like projects that allow me to work with new technologies/solutions. One of those projects is Pyrkon - in its Web Socket elements we used Autobahn.
  • What was your first contact with web technologies? When did you make a decision that you want to work in IT?
It probably started in elementary school, when I “wrote” my first HTML website. When it comes to being interested in the IT industry, I don’t remember when it started. I like to think that there wasn’t a time when I was not interested in it.
  • What do you think is most difficult (and most interesting) in your work as Backend Developer?
The requirement to constantly develop your skills, what is necessary if you want to keep up with the industry.
  • First thing you do when you arrive at the office.
I put on my slippers, check inbox/Redmine and prepare for the rest of the day.
  • iOS or Android?
    Android.
  • What do you do in your free time after work?
I spend time with my girlfriend - we watch tv-shows (mainly sci-fi) or play computer and board (for instance Sid Meier’s Civilization) games. We also like to eat something nice in good restaurants.
  • Your favorite childhood hero is...
Jack O’Neill from Stargate SG-1. With two l’s.
  • Favorite place in Poznań.
Chair next to my desk at home.
  • Beer or vodka?
    Cider!
  • Favorite sport.
I used to play baseball; now I mainly watch it. From time to time I also jog.
  • Dog or cat?
    Cat.
  • Which website do you visit the most?
Reddit.com – a source of daily information from the industry.
  • Favorite app.
BaconReader, because Reddit has to be browsed during my way to work.
  • If you could only visit one website for the rest of your life, what site would that be?
The same website as the one I visit every day.
  • If you could have your dream job, what would it be?
I would like to design processors at Intel.

As usual, you can check out other interviews in the people&events section on our blog.
