A new event for UX/UX Designers and Project Managers
This month Dev College, Py_tej, and Front.radar, our events for the development community, got another addition to their family! In November we introduced PUMEX, a workshop dedicated to specialists in such fields as Product Desing and Project Management. As is the case with every other event we create, our goal is to create a community that will help everyone share their experiences and talk about the trends and challenges of the industry.
The first edition of PUMEX started with a presentation conducted by our Senior Project Manager Kamil, who talked about MVP and its challenges. But don’t think that he was only speaking about theoretical stuff- he based it on a real case study, which was then dissected and broken down into prime factors during the discussion conducted by Maria Borowy and Jakub Kośla from our Product Design Team. All that, of course, fueled by great food - this time we ditched pizza and beer in favor of delicious vegan food! Once again, thank you to everyone who attended and hopefully see you sooner than later!
Let’s eat some rogale to celebrate Poznań!

In our opinion celebrating local holidays is best when the celebration in question is based on food! As every year, our beloved hometown turns into a great carnival on November 11th. This day is not only Polish Independence Day, but in Poznań it's also a Saint Martin’s Day. Per tradition, we ordered rogale świętomarcińskie, a local delicacy and a croissant filled with almond paste, white poppy seeds, and a ton of calories. But this time of year it’s impossible to not eat at least one rogal - that would be almost like treason to our city! That’s why, without the slightest trace of guilt, we ditched our lunches in favor of rogale. Which was obviously a great choice!
Let’s talk about Merixstudio’s rebranding

Since you’re reading this summary on our blog, I don’t have to tell you that in May we underwent quite a lot of changes. ;) As you know, our old design is no more and we embraced the darker side of our dual, black&orange nature. The redesign was one of the biggest and most challenging parts of our rebranding and has taken us 2000 hours of design work. But you may ask yourself - why is she talking about something that happened so long ago? Well, let me tell you why!
In November we decided to finally tell you more about the process and show the details of our work. What was the idea behind the new CI and UI? What’s the key visual and how is it implemented within the particular graphic elements of our website? All that you can lear in the comprehensive case study we published on our Behance profile!
The busiest bees are in Project Management
If you work in the IT industry, you might’ve heard some (highly unfair, may I add!) jokes about how little Project Managers do. Well, our PMs are here to once and for all debunk this myth! Last month Radek and Kamil got their Professional Scrum Master II certificates, which, of course, would be impossible to achieve when slacking off. Their excessive Scrum knowledge and impressive experience in working with this framework got them to a highly exclusive club of only 5000 people who were able to get this certificate! Well done Guys, we couldn’t be more proud!
Doing our best for our brothers in black&orange
In November not only our whole city but the whole country was heartbroken when heard about the tigers that were rescued by Poznań’s ZOO. With orange and black having a special place in our hearts, we decided to pitch in and help. But the reason for mentioning it in this summary is not to brag about how noble we are - it’s to simply remind you that ZOO still needs our help!
While five tigers are at the moment safely in Spain, two are still in our hometown! To make their lives finally comfortable after years of abuse, Poznań’s ZOO needs to create a habitat for those magnificent creatures. If you want to find out how you can help them, check out their Facebook fanpage! Together let's make the world a better place for everyone!
Hello, Poznań Flutter Developer Group
I started this summary with the description of the new event we introduced, let’s finish it the similar way. In November we invited Poznań Flutter Developer Group to cooperate on their fourth meetup, which was held in our office. We’re happy to say that plenty of people came wanting to learn, network, and chat about mobile app development. During the event we walked about:
- analytics in BLoC + Firebase,
- heavy jobs with Isolates,
- the current state of Flutter Web/Desktop.
But our cooperation didn’t consist of only allowing people to visit our space or ordering pizza - we also shared some knowledge of ours! Or rather Andrzej, our Backend Developer, did. ;) And I don’t have to tell you that he did a good job - if you know Andrzej you know that this dude is both knowledgeable and charismatic. ;)
And that would be all for this summary - I’m going back to preparing Christmas decorations for our office, organizing Christmas parties, and doing some secret project about which you’ll read in the upcoming summaries. Until then!
